Hello!
I’m Stephanie Thompson. I am a wife to my husband, Jim, and mother of our two boys, ages 14 and 11. My faith and my family come first, and becoming a mom definitely made me a better teacher. I no longer just saw my wonderful students sitting in front of me; I saw other parents’ dearly loved children. Ever since, I have worked to teach my students as if they were my own children.

My Story
I graduated from the University of South Florida with a Bachelor’s Degree in Exceptional Student Education. Since then, I have added Elementary Education, ESOL (English to Speakers of Other Languages), and Reading Endorsement to my certificate. After extensive training, I also obtained a separate certificate as a Reading Intervention Master Teacher. I have a total of 15 years of classroom experience, working in a variety of settings with students with various learning disabilities.
After many months of prayerful consideration, I felt God calling me to leave the classroom and serve the children and families in my community by starting a tutoring business. The reality of everchanging reform within the school system made me realize that no matter what the new “fix” was going to be to ensure students’ success, my philosophy has and will always remain the same...
Learners need basic, fundamental, foundational skills to help them be successful life-long learners. A firm foundation is crucial to carry students through high school and beyond. I have always held the belief that we, as educators, need to meet all learners where they are, and as Brainspring Educator Academy says, “Teach to their stage, not their age!” to close the achievement gap.
